In the 1960’s during the process of building the water reservoir Liptovská Mara, there was a systematic archeological research of the affected region. The research revealed secrets that were buried under the ground for centuries.
Northern slopes of the river Váh were inhabited already in the ancient times. Patient work of archeologists revealed relics from the Iron and the Roman Age. These regions achieved the highest growth during the Celtic colonization. In the year 1991 the excavation Havránok was declared a National Cultural Monument.
Open-air museum in Havránok is the most important archeological monument in the Liptov region. Being a visitor there means a unique opportunity to touch our oldest history.
